Hello All! :)
Had a great day training today and just felt like posting about it and about what I realised after such a jam.
So yeah,
I went into London today to meet Pete and Mify (timothy) to film for a documentary Mify is doing for a college project as a prequel to one he's doing in summer as a DVD feature (flow and fluidity). Yes, Jump London and Britain were very good and inspired millions to start parkour but Mify basically felt that they were both much based around Urban Freeflow and Sebastian Foucan. The basic point of flow and fluidity, or this what I picked up from Mify's explanation, is to bring forward the community side of parkour and the up and coming talent from around the UK and to focus on the small precise movements, not the huge jumps. Some people feel that UF has slightly lost it's way in some areas and Flow and Fluidity is supposed to show the soul of parkour so we're just hoping this prequel will make people watch it and be inspired. Possibly not though haha.
Anyway,
so I woke up at 8am this morning, alarm set on both my phone and my iPod dock (iPod dock can be unreliable), i was very excited to take a trip into the big city to meet my close friend Pete and long lost aquaintance Mify and to film the documentary. As I got out of bed, happy as a clam, I noticed that the sky was grey and the pavement outside my window was damp. My heart sank, I couldn't believe it, so many hours waiting and now this.
However, I decided to be stubborn and still travel into London to meet the guys, there are, anyway, many undercover areas out there. As I got on the train I noticed it was drying up, my heart swam to the surface of the dark cold pit in my stoumache but sure enough when I got to Waterloo station, it was pouring with rain. Pete and I had a bit of cheeky fun with the 'chicken man' from Chicken Cottage and then went up to OXO, the undercover area nearest to the iMax cinema. We met Mify there and warmed up.
Now heres the great realisation..
Usually undercover areas are used as last minute training spots for warmdowns or for brief spells of rain. During these times you don't really train to progress or train very hard. However, today, due to it being pretty much rainy all day, we basically stayed in the small undercover spots and I found that I progressed a suprising amount. I realised that actually even the smallest of spots can be made into a huge oppertunity for progression.
Anyway, it carried on in this fashion throughout the day, ending in an Osh and Pete session at Festival Pier. And again more progression even in wet sand, wind and the freezing cold.
Anyway, thank you Mify and Pete for such a great day and wilkl do it again soon.
Cheers Guys
and Train hard! :)
